Along with being the frontman of one of the biggest metal bands in the world, Corey Taylor has also written several books (including a comic). At the time of this writing, Corey has released the following books:
- Seven Deadly Sins: Settling the Argument Between Born Bad and Damaged Good
- A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Heaven (Or How I Made Peace with the Paranormal and Stigmatized Zealots & Cynics in the Process)
- You’re Making Me Hate You: A Cantankerous Look at the Common Misconception That Humans Have Any Common Sense Left
- America 51: A Probe into the Realities That Are Hiding Inside “The Greatest Country in the World”
- House of Gold And Bones (comic)
But while most of those books have been works of non-fiction, the Slipknot frontman has a new book he is working on (and this one appears to be fiction). While taking part in a Q&A session at the horror convention For The Love Of Horror, Corey was asked about his upcoming book. This is what he had to say about it:
“I actually started [writing the novel] about a year ago. There’s actually a couple that I started, but with my attention span, I just start to – ‘Oh look at the kitty’ [he jokingly walks in an opposite direction on stage].
The novel – I won’t give too much away because I don’t wanna get too much in ’cause I’m still trying to map it out; I’ve only written the first three chapters. But it has to do with a psychic, a witch, a serial killer, and a demon. And yeah, it’s as cool as you think. And it’s weird. The psychic develops this kind of psychic bond with the serial killer who doesn’t realize he’s psychic. So it’s an interesting twist.
“And if I do it right, I have a plan to use the central characters in several other books. So if the first one doesn’t suck, we’ll see what happens… but it very well could suck ass. However, I’ll at least go, ‘All right, well, we’re not doing novels anymore.’ But that’s the thing — you try it. If you have a taste for it and you develop a talent for it and if it’s good and if people dig it, then you can carry on and see how far you can take it. But if people go, ‘Yeah, you shouldn’t do that anymore,’ I listen — I promise I listen. It’s only because you guys go and see my movies that I actually act as well. So there you go.”
We are sold! We have enjoyed all of Corey’s past writing, and we are really looking forward to reading this new book once it is ready. You can check out a video below that features Corey talking about his upcoming book.
