For those who do not know, the Friday The 13th film series has been in one hell of a limbo. Considering the various legal matters pertaining to the horror franchise, there has not been a new Friday The 13th film in some time.

THAT SAID… it looks like the franchise is making a return! As reported by Variety, a prequel television show titled Crystal Lake is coming to the streaming service Peacock. Details regarding the show’s narrative are being kept hidden for now, but the show is being described as an “expanded prequel.” Bryan Fuller (who created the show Hannibal) is the the showrunner and an executive producer for Crystal Lake. Victor Miller, who wrote the original Friday The 13th movie, is also attached to this project as an executive producer.

Susan Rovner, chairman of entertainment content for NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, shared the following statement: “’Friday the 13th’ is one of the most iconic horror franchises in movie history and we were dying to revisit this story with our upcoming drama series ‘Crystal Lake.’ We can’t wait to get to work with Bryan Fuller, a gifted, visionary creator who I’ve had the pleasure of being a longtime friend and collaborator, along with our incredible partners at A24, in this updated version for Peacock that will thrill long-standing fans of the franchise.”

We are incredibly excited to see Friday The 13th come back in cinematic fashion! The last official movie to come from the franchise is that of the 2009 film; and while this is a TV show, we are excited to venture back to Camp Crystal Lake. As soon as we get a release date and trailer for this show, we will share both with you all!

In other horror related news, earlier today, we shared a first-look at a Deadite who appears in the upcoming Evil Dead movie! Evil Dead Rise is currently one of our most anticipated movies of next year.
