This year marks the 30th anniversary of Alice In ChainsDirt – one of the most significant albums in all of heavy music history. For many folks, this album is a tremendously important work of art; Slipknot singer Corey Taylor actually considers Dirt to be one of the greatest heavy metal albums ever made.

With the anniversary of this Alice In Chains album approaching, we thought we would share a pretty bad ass throwback. Back in 1993, the grunge act played a special set via the British TV show Later… With Jools Holland. Among the incredible songs they played during that performance, one of them was “Them Bones,” which is a popular single off of Dirt.

Uploaded via the band’s YouTube channel, you can now check out their performance of “Them Bones” while on the show. The performance is nothing short of riveting and moving. Given how incredible of a voice he had, the late Layne Staley provides a remarkable performance alongside the rest of the band.

You can check out Alice In Chains’ performance of “Them Bones” on the Later… With Jools Holland show below. Via the band’s YouTube channel, you can find another video that features them playing their song “Would?” while on the show. Were you someone who went out to buy Dirt at the record store when it was released back in 1992? What are you feelings regarding the album? Do you consider it one of the band’s best?

In other news related to this album, did you know that Slayer frontman Tom Araya was actually featured on it? A couple months ago, we also came across this stunning cover of the band’s song “Rain When I Die,” and it gave us goosebumps. There is also a version of “Rooster” that features only vocals from Layne Staley, and it sounds quite chilling.
