Jim Root and Corey Taylor have been working with each other for decades now; through both Slipknot and Stone Sour – both Jim and Corey have gone through a lot of shit together.

In more recent years, there has been some friction between the fellow Slipknot members – that friction looking to have originated from some tension within Stone Sour. Around 2013-2014, Root was fired from Stone Sour. Even with his strained relationship with that of Corey, Root has continued to play in Slipknot since then.

That said, per a new interview with Metal Hammer, Slipknot singer Corey Taylor shared that not only are things better between him and Jim, but the two musicians are now working on a new project together that is not Slipknot or Stone Sour related. Here is everything Corey had to say about him and Jim’s relationship:

“He and I are very different people and we were both going through our own shit in life. We reconnected, and we’re actually talking about doing some stuff on the side, outside of Slipknot and Stone Sour.

“It’s cool to find your friend again and realise that you can find your way back to people that you care about. Honestly, I can’t sit here and say that I wasn’t responsible for some of the bad feelings. That can only come with self-reflection, and the fact that the things that were going on in my life rippled and affected other people. Once you own up to that, you can start to mend bridges by showing people that you are truly sorry.”

We are glad to hear that the guys have a much happier relationship now! We are also excited to hear whatever Taylor and Root have in the works for us musically as well. It is also worth noting that we are just a couple weeks away from the release of the new Slipknot album THE END, SO FAR!
