During a recent conversation with Metal Global’s Jorge Botas, Robb Flynn reflected on his fandom of Slayer and how amazing it was to get to tour with the band back in the ’90s. He speaks to how he appreciates guitarist Kerry King giving Machine Head a chance, and how Slayer helped to “launch” Machine Head. Speaking to what it was like to tour with Slayer, this is what Robb had to say:

“It was a dream come true. It launched Machine Head into the stratosphere. And I’ve gotta give Kerry King a lot of credit for that, man. He really believed in us and took a shot on us. I had seen Slayer more than any other band in thrash metal. I used to drive to L.A., to Sacramento, to Fresno; me and my friends would take road trips to go see [Slayer]. We fucking loved Slayer. And so when we finally got the gig, it was, like, ‘Holy fuck. This is amazing.’ They took us all over Europe; they took us to America. We did five months with Slayer. I got to see 88 free Slayer shows and I watched every night; there was not a night that I didn’t catch at least even part of the show. And I felt very fortunate for that.”

That sounds like an incredibly bad ass time! A bill with both of those bands promise nothing short of an amazing live experience. Speaking of Machine Head though, starting in November, the band will be hitting the road for a new tour. You can find all the dates and locations associated with that tour below.
