You have heard King Crimson’s Robert Fripp and Toya cover Slipknot before, but are you prepared to hear their cover of Pantera‘s “5 Minutes Alone”? More than likely you’re not.

The instrumentation associated with the original cut of that Pantera song has a heavy, sludge-like groove to it – this version does not. The vocals associated with the original “5 Minutes Alone” feature an aggressive sounding Phil Anselmo who is barking out lyrics – this song absolutely does not feature that.

Robert and Toyah’s version of “5 Minutes Alone” is a whole other… “fascinating” composition. Playfully retitled “5 Mins With Fripp,” this cover offers a much more restrained take on the Pantera banger (while capturing a slight essences of the song’s groove). You can check out the couple’s cover of the Pantera song below.

What are your thoughts on this cover? Are you a fan of it or not? In other Pantera related news, Slipknot singer Corey Taylor recently shared his two-cents regarding the upcoming Pantera shows. As part of these shows, Zakk Wylde, who is standing in as guitarist for the band, will be utilizing some of Dimebag’s old gear.

Pantera recently announced their first few shows as well; they will be playing alongside such bands as: TriviumSepulturaJudas PriestBring Me The Horizon, Venom, Mr. Bungle, Vended, and many more. Crowbar and Soilent Green drummer, Tommy Buckley, recently shared his thoughts on the upcoming shows as well.

Did you happen to know Kid Rock, Dimebag, and Chad Kroeger (of Nickelback) all made a song together? Anthrax bassist Frank Bello recently shared that Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante is the right guy to play stand-in drummer for Pantera on their upcoming shows.

How excited are you for these upcoming concerts? Do you plan on attending any of them (maybe more than one)? We will keep you posted as more news arrives regarding future concerts.
