Earlier this year, horror fans were treated to a real incredible experience in the form of X – the latest film to come from director Ti West. West’s past films, like The House of the Devil and The Sacrament, have a remarkable means of getting under one’s skin – and that is very much what X accomplishes.
The premise to X involves a group of people trying to film a porno flick, but after the shoot is all done, things go horribly wrong (and very bloody). The film is a brilliant tribute to classic slasher flicks and won over the hearts of fans and critics. But prior to the film’s release, West had mentioned that another movie associated with X was already in the works; this movie would eventually be revealed as Pearl which is a prequel involving the killer of X.
There has been a lot of excitement surrounding the release of Pearl, which will be arriving soon; in fact, Pearl just premiered at TIFF at midnight (just some hours ago). Along with the premier of Pearl though, West announced another big piece of news – there is another movie associated with X coming out!
As reported by Deadline, the third movie is titled MaXXXine, and per Deadline, the story of the film involves the following (some spoilers ahead): “Mia Goth will be back and reprising one of the two roles she played in X. It follows Maxine (Goth), after the events of X, as the sole survivor who continues her journey towards fame setting out to make it as an actress in 1980’s Los Angeles.”
