News of Disney’s upcoming live action Little Mermaid movie has stirred much of the internet; many negative reactions and comments pertaining to the film have come from individuals complaining how Ariel (the main character in the movie) is black.

Many people are trying to make an issue over the fact that, in the original Little Mermaid movie, Ariel is white, and this new Ariel (played by Halle Bailey), is black – which is supposedly not “faithful” to that of the original 1837 fairy tale.

These types of comments have been called out by none other than Disturbed frontman David Draiman (who has never been shy to share an opinion or two). Draiman must have stumbled upon some of the comments made about the film, for he recently decided to tweet about the matter over on his Twitter. Pertaining to these specific comments about Ariel being black, this is what David Draiman wrote:

“If you have a problem with someone dark skinned playing the role of a fantasy creature like Ariel the mermaid, you’re not really worried about ‘keeping true to the original story’, you’re just being a bigot. #TheLittleMermaid #TheLittleMermaid2023″

What do you make of what David Draiman has said about those complaining about Ariel from The Little Mermaid being black?

In the past, David has thrown his two-cents into the ring when it comes to a plethora of other matters: He once shared his thoughts on what was once a leaked abortion draft, he has come to the defense of Lil Nas X (after some nasty remarks were made about the rapper), and he has even been very vocal about his support of Spotify and streaming services.
