You would think that after a life of rock and roll adventure, Kiss bassist Gene Simmons might have a tremendous wealth of friends. Well, apparently not folks. Via a recent conversation with Goldmine magazine, Simmons shared that he doesn’t have friends. Talking about his lack of friendship in life, Gene Simmons shared the following:
“Even today as I sit here, other than Paul [Stanley], and we only get together when we do stuff for the band… How do I say this without sounding inhuman? I don’t have friends.”
He went on to add, “Yeah, if friends means, ‘Gee, I don’t know what I’m going to do this afternoon. Hey, you want to come over and hang out?’ I’m more interested in what I want to do, and I don’t want to pretend that I’m interested in what you want to do because I am not.”
Everyone should have at least one friend, but hey, to each is own. There are plenty of days where we want to just keep to ourselves (maybe have four to six hours of alone time to play Elden Ring).
In other news related to Gene Simmons, the Kiss member recently reflected on his relationship with ex-band members Ace Frehley and Peter Criss. Back in the day, Simmons made a crude joke about Metallica that really bummed out Megadeth guitarist and singer Dave Mustaine.
