Unless you’ve been living under a rock the last month, you’re likely aware that the use of Metallica’s ‘Master of Puppets’ in season 4 of Netflix’s Stranger Things has rocket shipped the song into global, mainstream pop culture.
Not only did Stranger Things shoot it straight up the Spotify charts, but the song even charted on the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time in its history. Pretty mind boggling considering the song first came out in 1986.
Before you point and yell poser! at your screen, note that this particular video is actually a few years old. With all of the new-found interest around ‘Master of Puppets’, the ‘ol YouTube algorithm is pumping us (and the rest of the platform) with a lot of popular Puppets-related content.
The video below has amassed over 3 million views for a reason, though- the kids have chops, especially for 14 year-olds. While the video is just a guitar and drums duo, we promise you that these kids run circles around our incredibly shitty high school bands.

And if you enjoyed the above video, check out this other one below- same deal. A bunch of high school kids shredding out a Puppets cover, and clearly loving every second of it. In fact, the crowd (presumably of parents?) might even be enjoying it more than the kids. All hail Metallica, now and forever.
