Welcome back to the third installment of The Pit’s Favorite Riffs, where we share five new killer metal songs that have recently came out and that we love! Here are the metal songs we highlighted from last week!

As always, our goal with this feature is to shine a light on more underground metal bands. This week, we are bringing you a nice variety of grind, heavy metal, black metal, and more.

Escuela Grind – “All Is Forgiven”

A solo Native American black metal project, Blackbraid is sincerely one of the most fascinating acts to come out of the genre in some time. Their songs, like “The River of Time Flows Through Me,” offer profound atmosphere and feeling; riveting guitar riffs exude a chilly tone that eventually shifts into somber moods, then reverting back to pure ferocity. Sonja – “Nylon Nights”

If you are interested in modern music that channels a classic heavy metal atmosphere, then Sonja have you covered. Ripped to Shreds – “Reek of Burning Freedom”

A ferocious blend of grind and old school death metal, Ripped to Shreds’ “Reek of Burning Freedom” is pure fucking brutality. Mortuous – “Graveyard Rain”

You know who also makes excellent death metal? The guys in Mortuous! Their new single “Graveyard Rain” is a maddening blend of killer riffs, exhilarating bass and drum beats, and monstrous sounding vocals.
