Metalheads love to complain about Ghost. Is the band metal? Are they heavy? And so on and so forth. Well during a recent conversation with SVT (a Swedish TV channel), Ghost frontman Tobias Forge decided to address some of the complaints the metal community has expressed about the band.

At one during Forge’s appearance on SVT, the person doing the voiceover work brings up how, even though Ghost get a lot of love, they also have their haters. Among the complaints made against the band, two of the most common are that they are not heavy and they are not metal.

Forge responds to this backlash and shares the following (these quotes have been translated via English captions, “YouTube CC“):

“Ever since we released the first album, there was always someone for and against the discussion of the band; the music and my singing style have almost always been the same. Either they liked it or it was ‘gay.’ Or not metal enough. Then it has usually been called ‘homosexual.’ If they use it negatively like that, I’m perfectly fine with them not liking us. I take it as a badge of honor. I’m happy they don’t listen to us.”

There you have it folks – Forge is not concerned with what anyone has to say about his band! We are big fans of the band here (their latest album, Impera, is one of our current favorite albums of the year so far).
