Via the Stranger Things Writer’s Room Twitter account, a video has surfaced online that features Joe Quinn (who plays Eddie Munson) practicing the Metallica song “Master of Puppets.” While Quinn did receive some help in performing the song (receiving help from that of Tye Trujillo, the son of Metallica’s Robert Trujillo, as well as Kirk Hammett), he did a stellar job capturing and presenting the ferocity of the iconic thrash track. You can check out the video of Joe Quinn practicing Metallica’s “Master of Puppets” below.

What do you think of Joe Quinn’s guitar skills? Recently, Tye Trujillo spoke to how he landed his Stranger Things gig. Metallica are super happy with their song appearing in the Netflix show, so happy in fact, that they recently took part in a TikTok duet and performed alongside that awesome Stranger Things scene.
There are also a bunch of heavy metal Easter eggs throughout the latest season of the show. We wrote up a feature that goes over these Easter eggs, and you can find an excerpt from that feature below! The link to the full feature is under that excerpt.
Eddie is Holding an Iron Maiden Piece of Mind Cassette in Episode 8
With Nancy under Vecna’s trance, Robin rushes to find a cassette tape of music that they can use to wake her up, similarly to the effect that Kate Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill’ had on an earlier episode in waking up Max when Vecna had her in his clutches.
It’s a bit of a “blink and you’ll miss it” moment, but as Robin furiously flips through Eddie’s cassette collection, she mocks the metal (“What IS all this shit? Madonna, Blondie, Bowie, Beatles? Music! We need music!”).
Eddie angrily grabs and clutches a tape (which on pause you can see is none other than Iron Maiden’s 1983 album, Piece of Mind).
In a defense of the genre he bellows “THIS IS MUSIC”! Right on, Eddie.
