Man, Rage Against the Machine cannot seem to catch a break on this reunion run. First, their much anticipated return after a decade away was pushed back numerous times over the past few years due to the pandemic. Then, Zach de la Rocha hurt his leg just a few shows into the tour, forcing him to basically be seated on every show since.
Now, at last night’s show in Toronto, a fan rushed the stage during last song ‘Killing in the Name’ and caused a shit show in the process. It SEEMS like the fan was trying to stage dive (although judging by that huge arena stage to audience gap… not an advisable move). As you can see below, security accidentally then tackled Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello in the malay, knocking him off of the stage in the process!
Thankfully, Tom appeared to be OK, but not without some understandable confusion first. After Zach realizes what happens, he stops the song, yelling “Hold Up! Hold Up!.. Oh shit!” Incredulously, Tom and Zach then both speak to the crowd (although the audio is a bit hard to fully make out): “What just happened?… do not try that shit again… sorry we’re cool we love y’all but don’t do that!”
They then start the song again and blow the roof off the place. Watch different video angles captured by fans below:
