As shared by Metal Injection, this 1995 Motörhead contest offered some really interesting prizes! This contest was started to help promote the band’s record at the time, Sacrifice. Said contest not only gave Motörhead fans the chance to win a year supply of Lemmy‘s favorite whiskey (being Jack Daniels), but they also had a chance to win a car! Fans also had the chance to win free band tattoos and even a Motörhead branded condom.
You can find a photo below that features the car that Motörhead fans had the chance to win. To enter this contest, fans had to mail in an answer regarding what Lemmy’s favorite whiskey was. When it comes to band/artist related contests, this sounds pretty damn cool. Have you ever taken part in a band/artist contest? What did you win?
When it comes to other news regarding the late Motörhead singer and bassist – Back in April, Ozzy Osbourne shared that he spoke to Lemmy the morning that he died. Back in June, we heard an incredible cover of the Motörhead song “Ace of Spades,” with Pantera/Down singer Phil Anselmo taking on vocal duty. A giant statue of Lemmy was unveiled at this year’s Hellfest (a heavy metal festival located in France). A documentary was also made regarding the creation of this statue. Per a press release associated with this statue:
“The legendary Ian ‘Lemmy’ Kilmister, founder of Motörhead and Grammy Award winning cultural icon, has had a portion of his ashes enshrined at this year’s Hellfest Festival in Clisson, France within a new, giant statue of the man, and the official ceremony to recognize this unique memorialization will occur on June 23, 2022. With band mates Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee present, it is the perfect moment to honor Lemmy’s life. After
“Hellfest was one of Lemmy’s favorite festivals (Motörhead played the first ever Hellfest and were staples of the festival ever since), and the band have always had a tremendous bond with their French rock’n’roll family. It is therefore fitting that Lemmy will forever be present at the site, with fans able to congregate and pay their respects to him at every Hellfest from here on out. This ceremony will also give fans an opportunity to participate in their own memorialization of Lemmy and see a miniature replica of the custom urn that houses Lemmy’s ashes at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Hollywood California.
“For fans that wish to share their own tributes, memories, experiences or pay their respects, can post using the hashtag #LemmyLivesAtHellfest.
“All Hail (the immortal legend) Lemmy!”
