Stranger Things spoiler ahead – You may have recently heard that the Metallica song “Master of Puppets” makes an appearance in the Netflix show Stranger Things – but you may not have known that the son of Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo actually contributed to that song’s cameo. Via his Instagram account, Robert Trujillo made a post to highlight his son’s work on the song, noting that he provided additional guitar tracks to the “Master of Puppets” performance.

So while it may appear that Eddie Munson (played by actor Joe Quinn) is playing the classic Metallica cut all on his own, he is actually getting some assistance from that of Tye Trujillo. Per the caption associated with Robert Trujillo’s Instagram post, he wrote:

“**Spoiler Alert** That’s my boy! Proud of ya Tye! Stranger Things finale shredding it on “Master of Puppets” and big thanks to @kirkhammett on helping! @tyetru @metallica @strangerthingstv #metallica #masterofpuppets #strangerthings #eddiemunson”

That is incredibly cool Tye! Congrats on the awesome gig!

We actually wrote about Tye recently in a new feature of ours. In said editorial, we wrote about 10 metal bands that include children of famous celebrities. Tye happens to be in a band called OTTO (where he plays bass). If you want to check out what we wrote about OTTO – and learn about the other nine bands we covered – follow the link below.

In other Stranger Things related news, the widow of the late Ronnie James Dio, Wendy Dio, spoke to how the Stranger Things team acquired the special Dio jacket that Eddie Munson wears in the show; this jacket is a personal piece of clothing from Ronnie’s estate. The actor who plays Eddie has also spoken to how he listened to a lot of heavy metal to prepare himself for his role.
