Via a video that has surfaced online, it looks like Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee may be using a backing track to assist with his drumming. In the video footage you will find below, during the band’s performance in Kansas City, you will find Tommy Lee approaching his drum set; just as he is sitting down, you can hear drums being played – but Tommy isn’t playing anything.

The use of backing tracks has been a heated topic for some. Back in June, Ace Frehley threw a jab at Kiss singer Paul Stanley for a lip syncing incident. There was also a whole thing that took place between radio personality Eddie Trunk and the singer of Santa Cruz (when the latter was accused of using backing tracks).

When it comes to the use of backing tracks during live shows, some people argue that, if someone is to buy a ticket for a live performance, they should expect the band to sing and play their instruments live.

Where do you stand on this subject? Backing tracks can be a very helpful tool for artists, but would you rather there be no backing tracks used at all?

Mötley Crüe is currently touring with Joan Jett & The BlackheartsPoison, and Def Leppard. If you are thinking about catching a show, you can find all the upcoming tour dates and locations below.
