Dorothea Taylor, the bad ass grandma drummer who has covered the likes of Disturbed and System of a Down, has recently covered a Blink 182 song. A couple years ago, she went viral for a drum cover she did of the Disturbed song “Down With The Sickness.” The Blink 182 song Taylor decided to cover is that of “What’s My Age Again?” (which is off the band’s 1999 studio album, Enema of the State).
We wanted to share Taylor’s performance of “What’s My Again Again?” because, 1). It’s awesome as heck, and 2). As a means to celebrate the recovery of Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker. Barker was recently in the hospital last week; at the time of that initial reporting, it wasn’t clear what he was hospitalized for, but his daughter had reached out via social media and asked for fans of her dad to pray for him. It has only recently been shared that Barker was hospitalized regarding “severe life-threatening pancreatitis.” Per several tweets Barker wrote, he shared:
“I went in for an endoscopy Monday feeling great. But After dinner, I developed excruciating pain and have been hospitalized ever since.”
“During the endoscopy, I had a very small polyp removed right in a very sensitive area, usually handled by specialists, which unfortunately damaged a critical pancreatic drainage tube. This resulted in severe life-threatening pancreatitis.”
“I am so very very grateful that with intensive treatment I am currently much better.”
We are super glad that Travis Barker is recovering now and seems to be doing relatively okay. Below you can find the video that features Dorothea Taylor covering Blink 182’s “What’s My Age Again?”
