Recently on Twitter, a user tagged Twisted Sister singer Dee Snider in a post saying “a cease & desist is in order” regarding Far-Right candidate Kari Lake’s use of “We’re Not Gonna Take It.” Lake was recently at a rally and the song was played as part of her entrance. Lake is a very vocal supporter of ex-United States President Donald Trump.
In replying to the user that tagged him in that initial tweet, Snider shares that while he is not on board with Lake’s views, he cannot stop her “legally” or “morally” from using “We’re Not Gonna Take It.” In full, this is what Snider had to say:
“While I abhor what this ignoramus @KariLake stands for and the she deplorables (yup, Hillary Clinton had it right) she represents, I can NOT legally or morally stop her from using or singing my song. I wrote it for everyone…cherry picking who uses it is censorship.”

In regards to this subject, another Twitter user replied to Dee Snider and said, “Please tell me @deesnider is not ok with Kari Lake using his music.” To which the Twisted Sister frontman shared the following in response:
“Not at all. I do NOT stand with @KariLake. I’m not with anyone who is with Trump or not Pro-choice. This said, i wrote a song designed for everyone. I can’t cherry pick who can & can not sing it… THIS SAID…the 1st line is ‘WE’VE GOT THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE’. Glad Kari agrees.”
