While there are some folks who are excited for the upcoming Pantera reunion tour, there are those who aren’t super pleased (like that of Chris Barnes). The ex-Cannibal Corpse singer recently took to his Twitter to share his feelings regarding the news of this reunion. Per the caption associated with a gif that he posted, Barnes wrote: “Can someone please check the Abbott Brothers Graves? I do believe they just rolled the fuck over……. #PanteraReunion #MoneyGrab #LameAF”

Barnes has never been shy to share his stance on a variety of subjects. Earlier this year, Barnes got a lot of coverage for comments he made regarding the modern death metal scene. Via his Twitter account, he shared, “I despise what this genre has become.” This sentiment didn’t go over too well with many folks; Undeath singer Alex Jones called out Barnes as a “curmudgeon,” whereas Cannibal Corpse singer George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher expressed how “proud” he is of the modern death metal scene. Hell, Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker even gave Barnes shit (after Barnes had given Barker’s now wife Kourtney Kardashian shit for wearing a Cannibal Corpse t-shirt).
Why do you have to be so cranky Chris? Have some coffee, go out for a walk, get some sun, listen to the plethora of amazing death metal bands that are kicking ass today.
What are your thoughts on Barnes’ sentiment (and that of the Pantera reunion tour as a whole)? Are you looking forward to attending the band’s upcoming 2023 shows? When it comes to those who have opposite opinions, Avenged Sevenfold frontman M. Shadows sees this reunion as a positive thing. In other news pertaining to this tour, it has recently been confirmed who will be filling in for the roles of guitarist and drummer alongside Pantera members Phil Anselmo and Rex Brown.
