The nicest mean in the history of metal, Alice Cooper, has now directed his praise at guitar virtuoso (and current Alice Cooper touring guitarist), Nita Strauss.

We have covered Alice plenty of times before for being a “mensch,” – our favorite story being how he put money aside during the beginning of the pandemic for his road crew.

Last week, we highlighted a recent Rolling Stone Deutschland interview with Alice because he had some sage words about how to treat people- not just the ones that work for you, but how to be a good human in general:

“I think it starts at the top. I think that whoever’s leading the band, the other guys mold into that. So I treat the guy that sweeps the stage with the same respect as I treat the guitar player, or the bass player. Everybody gets treated the same. If, we have a night off, for example, I’ll invite everybody to dinner. We take 35-40 people to dinner. And that means everybody – the lowest guy on the totem pole is treated exactly the same as the band.

“And to me, once you do that, you get a loyalty – you know, most guys don’t even know who worked for them. I know everybody that works for me. And I know pretty much their families. I like to keep it like that. And that way, every show, everybody wants to do the best show that night, everybody [wants to] make it represent the best thing. And I want them to have pride in the show. Not just the fact that, ‘Oh, all I do is the lighting.’ I go ‘No. Without that lighting I don’t look good. So you are as important as I am.’ That’s how I think you work a band.”

Anyways, on to Nita Strauss. We know Nita is amazing. We love her so much that we already felt compelled to write up not 1, but 10 reasons why Nita Strauss is awesome.

But considering that she technically works for Alice Cooper at the moment, it’s always nice to hear some words of praise about her from the boss himself.

As transcribed by our friends at MetalSucks, here is everything Alice had to say about how he puts his bands together, and just how highly he thinks of Nita:

“When I get ready to put a band together, I look for not just how great they are, but [also] their personalities. That’s the important thing. Are they going to be somebody that’s going to be fun to work with? Or are they going to be, you know, depressing? Are they going to be arrogant? Are they going to be egocentric? Everybody in my band are best friends.”

“Musically, it’s the best band I’ve ever worked with. I mean – Nita Strauss won guitarist of the decade in Guitar magazine. Total Shredder; she could really shred with the best of them. Glen Sobel, our drummer, won best drummer two years ago. The band is excellent. And now, I really believe that people come to the shows to hear the songs. I think they want to hear those songs really precise. And so that’s what we work on, more than anything else. And then they get the show on top of it. It’s like icing on the cake, you know, to see all the production.”
