Per a recent interview with Loudwire Nights host Toni Gonzalez, Ronnie James Dio‘s widow, Wendy Dio, spoke about the late singer’s denim jacket making an appearance in the new season of Stranger Things.
As you may recall from one of our stories at the beginning of the month, a Dio jacket worn by Eddie Munson (played by Joe Quinn) in the latest season of Stranger Things is actually a jacket from Ronnie James Dio‘s personal estate.
In her interview with Loudwire, Wendy Dio said that Ronnie James Dio would have loved to have seen his jacket appear in Stranger Things.
Wendy shared the following regarding the Netflix/Stranger Things team reaching out to her for the jacket.
Per Wendy Dio:
“What happened was, originally, this was before the pandemic hit. So this was like two, two-and-a-half years ago. They contacted me because I had to sign the license, because you can’t just use a Dio product without a license.”
She continues:
“They were very happy and they were very thankful, and they sent me a bunch of Stranger Things stuff, so it was really wonderful. I was so happy because then I didn’t see or hear about anything, and I thought, ‘Oh, I guess they didn’t use it.’ And then suddenly now, after the pandemic, I saw it and I was like, ‘Oh my god this is so wonderful, I’m so happy about it.’ Ronnie would’ve been so… he would’ve loved that.”
Wendy Dio concludes with saying how happy she is that a younger generation is discovering the music of Ronnie James Dio.
“Dio is happening right now, I’m so glad. The younger kids’ generation, I think it’s the first time in history where the kids are listening to their parents’ music.”
Wendy makes a great point! Have you been watching the new season of Stranger Things? What are your thoughts on Joe Quinn’s character Eddie Munson?
