At their first concert in 23 years, Mercyful Fate debuted a new song. The song is titled, “The Jackal Of Salzburg.”
This song made its debut during the band’s performance in Hannover, Germany, the band playing in support of Volbeat. The setlist for that performance was as follows:
1. The Oath
2. The Jackal Of Salzburg (new song)
3. A Corpse Without Soul
4. Curse Of The Pharaohs
5. Evil
6. A Dangerous Meeting
7. Satan’s Fall
Below you will find footage of Mercyful Fate playing several songs; the first video features the band’s new song. The new song is reportedly part of the band’s upcoming new album.
What do you think of the new Mercyful Fate song “The Jackal Of Salzburg”? Are you excited for the band’s new album?
The current band lineup features King Diamond (vocals), Hank Shermann (guitar), Bjarne Holm (drums), Mike Wead (guitar), and Joey Vera (bass).
The band was formed in 1981 by King Diamond. At the time of this writing, the band have released seven studio albums: Melissa (1983), Don’t Break the Oath (1984), In the Shadows (1993), Time (1994), Into the Unknown (1996), Dead Again (1998), and 9 (1999).
Of those albums, which one is your favorite?
It is awesome to see the band performing live and to hear that they have new music coming out!
Band frontman King Diamond has also had an impressive solo career. At the time of this writing, he has released the following twelve studio albums: Fatal Portrait (1986), Abigail (1987), Them (1988), Conspiracy (1989), The Eye (1990), The Spider’s Lullabye (1995), The Graveyard (1996), Voodoo (1998), House of God (2000), Abigail II: The Revenge (2002), The Puppet Master (2003), and Give Me Your Soul…Please (2007).
