As we are approaching June, now is the time that we ask you: What is the best metal album of the year so far?

2022 has proven to be a remarkable year for heavy metal music so far; there has been a tremendous amount of incredible metal albums to have come out in the first half of the year.

At the beginning of the year we had incredible albums like Requiem from Korn, Elegy from Shadow of Intent, and Erebos from Venom Prison. Then we got a new self-titled record from Zeal & Ardor, the debut solo album from Cannibal Corpse‘s George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher, as well as a new Abbath album called Dread Reaver. And then month after month we have continued to see more excellent metal records get released.

So we ask you dear reader, what do you think the best metal album of 2022 is so far? Do you think the new Ibaraki record is the best? How about the new Meshuggah?

Below we have provided you a form to go ahead and vote for what you feel is the best album of the year so far. We’ve included a plethora of awesome releases, as well as a section for you to fill in your own pick if we happened to have missed a record. We will give it a few days for everyone to vote for their favorite record, and then will share the results with you next Tuesday (May 31st).

And over the next several months, we have even more incredible music coming out! The following metal bands have music scheduled for later in 2022: Kreator, Motionless in White, Tombs, Municipal Waste, Megadeth, Imperial Triumphant, Arch Enemy, Behemoth, Soulfly, Boris (releasing another album), Machine Head, Artificial Brain, and even more.

What metal album do you think may turn out to be the best of 2022 overall?
