A new play about heavy metal rockers Mötley Crüe is coming out and the band are not happy about it at all.

The play, titled, The Crüe: Underneath the Dirt Lies the Truth, comes from actor and director David Lucarelli; the play makes its debut next month.

Via his personal Instagram account, Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx shared a statement about this upcoming play. In his statement, he expresses that, “Mötley Crüe has no connection or affiliation with this play whatsoever.”

Sixx’s full statement is as follows:

“Fans of Mötley Crüe have asked about a new play by David Zucarelli’s called ‘The Crüe: Underneath The Dirt Lies The Truth.’

“I was disappointed to see an advertisement using my image and our band’s trademark The Crüe to promote this play.

“The advertising is misleading because it suggests that I and the other members of the band are somehow involved with the play.

“We have never been approached about this play. And Mötley Crüe has no connection or affiliation with this play whatsoever.”
