Linkin Park‘s Mike Shinoda has taken to Twitter to share his feelings on how artists are pressured into creating social media content for followers.
Pop star Halsey recently shared how they have new music they really want to release, but apparently, their label won’t allow them to release the music until they create a “viral” TikTok. You can find a TikTok Halsey posted speaking to this issue below:

Other artists such as Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine and FKA Twigs have also been struggling with this same issue.
Regarding such news, Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda took to his Twitter, sharing that, “How is a young artist expected to put in enough time to get great at their craft when they need to feed all these content channels?”
The following is in regards to Mike Shinoda’s Twitter thread:
“I’m tired of hearing musicians be told they’re not investing enough energy in social media content.

Every artist I talk to right now has this feeling. They say they’re spending way too much time making little videos to support their careers, but wish they could spend more time making and playing music.

The time they spent generating mind numbing “content” might have been at the expense of the best song they never wrote.
