During a Q&A hosted by Metal Hammer (with social media users submitting questions), Korn singer Jonathan Davis spoke to his feelings on the nu metal revival.
Korn is highly considered the band to kick-off and popularize the nu metal genre, their 1994 studio album debut making a large splash in the heavy music world. Given that Korn are so strongly associated with the genre, it is only natural that someone would be curious to pick the singer’s brain and ask him about modern nu metal.
Per the Q&A, one social media user asked the Korn singer:
“Have you heard any of the new nu metal bands, like Tetrarch and Tallah? Did you even know that nu metal was ‘a thing’ again?”
The Korn singer responded with his feelings regarding nu metal being “a thing,” and also shared his favorite new band.
Korn singer talking about nu metal
“I’m glad it’s back, but the whole nu metal thing, it’s just whatever! Ha ha! I like this one band called Wargasm. They’re pretty cool. They’re heavy, but they’re new and different.”
Wargasm is an electro-rock duo out of London, their style blending that of electronics, punk, and nu metal. You can check out one of the band’s songs below:
