It is wild to write this, but Judas Priest didn’t even make the top five for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame’s fan voted acts.
As the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame describes fan related votes on their official website:
“The top five artists, as selected by the public, will comprise a ‘fans ballot’ that will be tallied along with the other ballots to choose the 2022 inductees.”
So when it comes to that of fan votes, heavy metal legends Judas Priest didn’t even make the top five. So, who are the top five most voted for acts? They are as follows:
Duran Duran at 934,880 votes, Eminem at 684,237 votes, Pat Benatar at 631,299 votes, Eurythmics at 442,271, and Dolly Parton at 393,796.
When it comes to fan votes, Judas Priest had 365,999 votes. It is beyond surreal to hear that Judas Priest didn’t even make the top five.
It is also interesting to hear that country singer Dolly Parton is still on the nomination ballot for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. While the country singer is still on the ballot, Parton had made it clear back in March that she wanted to be removed from the ballot.
Judas Priest guitarist Richie Faulkner praised Parton regarding her decision (you can find her statement below). Via an interview involving the Judas Priest guitarist, he shared the following regarding that of Parton’s decision and the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame:
“I think it was a classy move, really. I think she recognizes her brand, and it didn’t necessarily fit into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. And I think it raises questions to what the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame’s brand is as well.
“To call it the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame and not have bands like Judas Priest in it from day one, I think, is a weird thing,” Richie continued. “I’ve said this before. It’s shocking, really. I don’t know how you can call it the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame without having bands like that in it as default; they sort of spawned the genre. But, you know, I’m not eligible, so I can sort of say what I want about it I just think bands like that — [Iron] Maiden, Priest, Motörhead — there’s a few bands that are not in, and a few artists that are, maybe it shouldn’t be called the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. I don’t know.
