Tool frontman, Maynard James Keenan, knows a thing or two when it comes to martial arts. The Tool frontman recently earned a brown belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and in a video he has uploaded to his personal Instagram account, he displays a move that could have helped Chris Rock out.

For the sake of context, the is in response to the infamous Oscars moment that took place last Sunday, where actor Will Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock.

Chris Rock took to the stage and did what he does best and threw out some jokes. Among those jokes was one about Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. Jada has been struggling with alopecia, which causes hair loss, which is what Rock’s joke alluded too. Well, after making that joke, Will Smith took to the stage and slapped Chris Rock. Rock stood in disbelief and said, “Will Smith just slapped the shit out of me.”

Smith then went back to his seat and yelled at Rock, “Keep my wife’s name out of your fucking mouth!”

Many artists have chimed in regarding this incident, such as Testament guitarist Alex Skolnick, as well as Twisted Sister guitarist Jay Jay French. That said, the Tool frontman has taken his input one step further – by providing footage of how Rock could have defended himself.

In the caption to the video, which you can find below, the Tool frontman wrote:

I realize we’re on the ass end of beating this dead horse, but fuckit. Greetings from my academy, @verdevalleybjj First Class is Always Free!”

Within the video, Maynard says that he is going to show, “the techniques that could have saved Chris Rock’s life.” Here is that video:

Now, if it wasn’t made obvious from Maynard’s video – this is not meant to be taken super seriously. It’s just the Tool frontman trying to be funny. But hey, did the video get a good laugh out of you?
