Papa Roach know how to have a good time. The nu metal/hard rock act has been going strong since 1993, and with their new album Ego Trip out today, they recently celebrated in a super kick ass way.

To celebrate the release of the new Papa Roach album Ego Trip, the band played a show last night at Shakey’s Pizza in Hollywood, CA. Yeah – this was no dive bar, no stadium, no typical sort of music venue – this was a freakin’ pizza place. Wanting to create a night to remember, Papa Roach vocalist Jacoby Shaddix joined the crowd and encouraged them to kick off a wall of death!

Footage of this moment can be found below, and we have to say, it is beyond epic! We also appreciate the moment where Shaddix tells the crowd before they charge into each other, “This one goes out to anybody who used to play Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2.” For reference, the Papa Roach song “Blood Brothers” was part of the soundtrack for the video game Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2.

In other news related to the Papa Roach vocalist, Jacoby Shaddix recently spoke to how he used to hate the nu metal genre and some comparisons made between him and Limp Bizkit vocalist Fred Durst.

Per Shaddix, initially speaking to nu metal:

“I hated it, I couldn’t stand it,” says Shaddix. “Everyone was trying to compare me to Fred Durst and I was like, ‘I am so much more fucking punk rock than this dude. He’s on the hip hop side.’ No disrespect to Fred. I think he’s fucking great at what he does, and I dig him.”
