“Spongecore” is a new level of heavy folks. Combining the instrumentation of hardcore act Knocked Loose and the voice of beloved cartoon character SpongeBob SquarePants – this Spongecore mash up is as heavy as it is hilarious.

Thanks to TikTok user Galo, there is a new mash up making its way around the heavy music internet that involves Knocked Loose and SpongeBob SquarePants. The concept for the video that Galo has uploaded to TikTok comes from a bizarre and funny note that someone brought to his attention. Per Galo, he shares at the beginning of the video, “Someone told me Knocked Loose sounds like SpongeBob, and I’m losing my fucking mind over this.”

The mash up then kicks in, with SpongeBob SquarePants shouting a line that is directed at his pet snail Gary:

“Gary! You are going to finish your dessert and you’re gonna like it!”

The line is said over a nasty build up, the instrumentation dropping out briefly as the iconic sponge then provides a little chuckle. What comes next is a crushing display of instrumentation, but the vocals are that of Knocked Loose vocalist Bryan Garris. When you hear Garris’ voice just after SpongeBob’s voice – the similarities between the two are hilarious. SpongeBob’s voice into Garris’ vocals makes for way too smooth of a flow than one might expect.

This is fantastic. SpongeBob SquarePants and hardcore music are a bizarre collaboration, but they work really well here! This also isn’t the first time that heavy music has found its way into SpongeBob SquarePants. There’s also that time that Pantera music made its way into an episode of SpongeBob SquarePants. You can find a clip of that below:
