As reported by NBC Los Angeles, a shooting took place at a recent death metal show – one person was killed and four were injured.

The shooting took place around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Marquis Lounge. Inside the bar, death metal band Crawling Through Tartarus were performing; the band’s singer, Matt Holzboog, was allegedly “hit by two rounds” and has underwent surgery for this injury.

CBS Los Angeles reported that 32-year-old James Vincent Dickson was pronounced dead at the scene. The other four individuals who were injured were noted to be in stable condition.

Per a supporter of Crawling Through Tartarus, they shared the following message, along with images of band singer Matt Holzboog in the hospital:

“Prayers for my boys in Crawling Through Tartarus after a violent shooting during their set last night in San Bernardino. Zander Dixon was a brother to Jack Berg and me growing up and it’s terrifying to see the video of somebody opening fire. Their vocalist Matt was hit by two rounds and is dealing with surgeries now. Make sure you send lots of love their way. Share their music with your friends, buy some merch, wish them well etc.”

At this time, no other statement has been provided from the band regarding the current status of their singer Matt Holzboog.

The investigation into this shooting is still ongoing; at the time of this writing, there has been no confirmation regarding a suspect. Per news coverage below, one man says that an argument took place and escalated, eventually leading to the shooting taking place. The bar where the band were playing typically has regulars who attend it, but per a man being interviewed in the news coverage below, the shooter appears to have not been one of the bar’s regulars.

Our hearts go out to all those who have been affected by this shooting.
