Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine is an executive music producer for the brand new heavy metal movie Metal Lords. Metal Lords, which is streaming today on Netflix, follows two friends, Hunter and Kevin, who are hardcore metalheads. Hunter wants to win the upcoming Battle of the Bands show, but the two are having difficulty finding a bassist. Eventually though, Kevin meets Emily, who happens to kick a lot of butt on the cello. The friends form the band Skullfucker and begin to practice for the show – but of course, hijinks happen and some romantic sparks begin to kick off.

In a recent interview with Metal Hammer, Morello spoke about his involvement on the heavy metal movie and working with Game Of Thrones showrunner DB Weiss (who wrote and directed this new heavy metal movie).

“Dan [DB Weiss] and I are heavy metal Dads at school, our kids know each other and they actually play in a band together,” Morello says. “Dan was the guy in a Mastodon shirt and I was the guy in the Judas Priest shirt, we are both from the Chicago suburbs, and so we bonded over that before we even got to talking about Game of Thrones or Rage Against The Machine.

“Dan told me about the idea for this movie and would I like to be involved, that is low hanging fruit, I would love to do it.”

One of the tasks assigned to Morello from DB Weiss was to create music for the movie. Referring to a song he worked on for Metal Lords, Morello shared:

“I asked him, ‘What’s my job?’ and he said ‘I definitely need you to write a song, and the song will be called Machinery of Torment,’” says Morello. “I said ‘I’ve been waiting my whole life to write a song called Machinery of Torment!’ So, I did!”

Per the film’s IMDb page, it looks like Metal Lords has one hell of a soundtrack! The film looks to include music from Judas Priest, Metallica, Iron Maiden, and more!

If you want to check out “Machinery of Torment” for yourself, you can listen to the song below! Metal Lords is also available to stream as of today via Netflix!
