Dethklok are coming back with new music! It has been roughly nine years since the band’s last release, being 2013’s The Doomstar Requiem – A Klok Opera Soundtrack. Their previous studio album is that of 2012’s Dethalbum III. But per Gene Hoglan, via an interview with Sobre La Dosis, not only is he working on new Dethklok music, but there also might be a new tour in the works for the band.

Dethklok is a fictional death metal band from the Adult Swim cartoon show Metalocalypse. The show primarily focuses on the random chaos that takes place within and around the band’s life. The band consists of Nathan Explosion (vocals), Skwisgaar Skwigelf (lead guitar), Toki Wartooth (rhythm guitar), Pickles (drums), and William Murderface (bass).

But while Dethklok is a fictional death metal band that exists within a cartoon – real people do have to make the music. Those artists who work to create the band’s music are that of Metalocalypse creator Brendon Small, ex-Fear Factory and ex-Testament drummer Gene Hoglan, and Bryan Beller (Steve Vai); there are also other individuals who have done guest work for the band’s music.

In an interview with Sobre La Dosis, Hoglan not only spoke to working on new music as part of the band’s upcoming movie, but that there would also be a tour involved with the movie. Per Hoglan:

“One of the larger projects that’s coming up really directly as well is Dethklok is working on a movie. So that’s gonna entail some definite intent from me. You know, I’m deeply involved in that, so we’re working on the next album, the soundtrack – well the movie doesn’t quite have a soundtrack to it – but we’re gonna have the movie, we’re gonna have the album for Dethklok, and I would imagine some touring as well.”

How excited are you for new Dethklok music? With new music, a new movie, and a new tour – Dethklok are making one hell of a return!
