Ever wanted to see some additional behind the scenes footage of Slipknot creating their 2001 record Iowa? Well, we just found some unearthed footage we think you Maggots might enjoy!

Uploaded this past February by the YouTube channel Slipknot FC, a video called “Slipknot – Recording footage (IOWA 2021)” shows the band in the studio recording parts of Iowa. In the video, you’ll find the likes of Sid Wilson doing some programming work, the late Joey Jordison going off on the drums, and frontman Corey Taylor working on some vocals. Two time stamps appear in the video, one for January 2001 and one for March 2001.

The video makes for an intimate and compelling look into the band’s recording process. While we may be so used to seeing Slipknot on stage performing and exuding ferocious energy, it’s surreal to see them in a studio slowly building upon what will become one of the heaviest records in all of metal history.

Iowa celebrated its 20th anniversary last year, and among many critics and fans, the record is considered one of Slipknot’s best (if not their best album). Iowa contains a plethora of iconic cuts, such as: “People=Shit,” “Disasterpiece,” “The Heretic Anthem,” and “Left Behind.” It is an album that displays Slipknot at possibly their most primal. There are other incredible gems on this record as well, and given that Corey Taylor recently said the band would be unearthing some classics on their upcoming tour, we may get to hear some of those cuts.

A big shoutout to Slipknot FC for uploading this video! This is some incredible footage and we’re sure the Maggots out there are happy to check this out. You can find the video below:
