Yesterday it was reported that Ukraine’s Jinjer would be setting aside their musical career to help support their country. Due to the war taking place, many Ukrainian citizens are suffering and striving to remain safe. In an effort to help their country, Jinjer have announced a special donation campaign.
Per Jinjer bassist Eugene Abdukhanov:
“Thank you all for your concerned messages and prayers sent to us over the last week, we may not answer but we are reading them and they mean the world to us. As you know, there is war raging through the streets and cities of Ukraine right now. Many people have little or no food or water and are very afraid of what tomorrow may bring. Together with Napalm Records, we’re releasing two new T-Shirt designs to raise funds to be donated to various charities throughout Ukraine to help with medical and food supplies, water and so on. If you cannot donate then please share this or any news related to what’s really happening here. Each sale may save somebody’s life in Ukraine. Thank you.”
100% of proceeds earned from these t-Shirts will be distributed directly to charity organizations of Jinjer‘s choosing and the band will update followers on social media. You can find both t-shirt designs here.
Yesterday, as reported by the BBC, Abdukhanov has said that he has abandoned his day job to concentrate on the immediate humanitarian crisis. He is working on setting up a charity “to help the military, to help the civilians” and will be joining friends in running a shelter providing “food supplies, water [and] protection” for people displaced by the conflict.
You can also find the band’s initial statement they posted on Instagram regarding Russia’s invasion of Ukraine below.
“Dear all, as we write this text, for the moment, each member of JINJER and our families are safe and unhurt. We truly appreciate all our fans around the globe for caring, getting in touch and for all the sympathy and support for our band and more importantly our country.
As you all know, early this morning on February 24th, Putin started the war against the sovereign and independent #ukraine ! Please know that in this time we really depend on you, our fans in every country- to support Ukraine and peace in our country however you can- especially our fans in Russia, you and your opinion matter the most at this time.
NOTHING can justify the violence and death of innocents, and this is exactly what’s happening in our country right now.”
Stop the war in Ukraine now!”
