Over the course of some Instagram videos, Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan has shown how he likes to keep busy backstage, and his shenanigans typically involve Tool drummer Danny Carey. While we’ve seen Maynard try to play games like Jenga directly behind Carey’s drum set while the latter is playing, the Tool frontman recently opted to pull a trick on that of the Tool drummer.
In a recent video uploaded to Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan’s Instagram account, the vocalist has played quite a comical prank on Carey. During a live show, we see Maynard backstage acting suspicious, as if he’s preparing himself for something. Then, as he prepares to move, we see that he is holding a dildo. Quickly and carefully making his way to Carey’s drum set, Maynard removes Carey’s mallet – which he uses for striking a gong. When Carey goes fishing around for his mallet – while not looking since he still has to focus on playing the drums – he grabs the dildo Maynard is holding and smashes the gong with it. Maynard walks away with a big smile on his face.

Danny Carey is a professional and doesn’t lose his focus when it comes to anything. Have you seen him play a flawless performance while needing to have a snare replaced mid-song? The guy is a master on the drums.
