Crowbar, Zero and Below, (MNRK Heavy)
For fans of: Down, Acid Bath, High on Fire
Standout track: “Bleeding From Every Hole”
Sludge metal’s Crowbar show no signs of slowing down! Kirk and the band have been going at it for three decades and they sound just as wicked as ever. Zero and Below captures the band’s superb blend of sludge, doom, and stoner vibes; the atmosphere is thick with tension and electricity, each riff letting loose a wild flavor of grit and grime.
Sabaton, The War to End All Wars, (Nuclear Blast)
For fans of: DragonForce, Powerwolf, Hammerfall
Standout track: “The Unkillable Solider”
With their 10th studio album, metal historians Sabaton offer listeners another collection of epic songs. The War To End All Wars is a vibrant rush of pulse-pounding instrumentation that exude tremendous thrills. This record also serves as a sequel to the band’s 2019 record The Great War (continuing to explore subjects pertaining to World War I).
Vein.fm, The World Is Going to Ruin You, (Closed Casket Activities/Nuclear Blast)
For fans of: Code Orange, Converge, Jesus Piece
Standout track: “Fear In Non Fiction”
Vein.fm have proven themselves to be an intriguing blend of heavy music. With a touch of hardcore, some industrial, and a little bit of nu metal style, the Boston, Massachusetts band offer a powerful force of hard-hitting grittiness and aggression. The World Is Going to Ruin You is the band’s second studio album, and if it’s anything like the previous Errorzone, then we can probably expect to hear some nasty riffs and killer breakdowns.
