Opeth are a fascinating force of musical creativity. From their death metal roots – as heard on 1995’s Orchid and 2001’s Blackwater Park – to that of the bluesy, folk and jazz infused metal of 2016’s Sorceress and 2019’s In Cauda Venenum, Opeth have consistently offered the world captivating music.
Their most recent album, 2019’s In Cauda Venenum, received a tremendous deal of critical and fan praise – and that album is now receiving a special edition treatment!
On May 13th, Opeth will release In Cauda Venenum (Extended Edition). This release, available on digipak, contains the English and Swedish versions of Opeth’s latest album In Cauda Venenum, with new illustrations by internationally renowned artist Travis Smith in the booklet. In addition, there is also a third CD including three unreleased bonus tracks, both in English and Swedish:
“The Mob” / “Pöbeln”
“Width of a Circle” / “Cirkelns Riktning”
“Freedom & Tyranny”/ “Frihet & Tyranni”
As of today, you can listen to “Width of a Circle.” You can find the song below:
The In Cauda Venenum (Extended Edition) is now available for pre-order. The band will also be releasing the album’s “Connoisseur Edition” vinyl boxset which includes the same bonus tracks but remastered by Mikael Åkerfeldt specifically for vinyl. This will be available in North American retail stores for the first time. Both album editions will also be available at the band’s merch table on the upcoming North American Tour.
Opeth will be hitting the road soon with Mastodon and Khemmis. You can find all the tour dates and locations below. You can also click on the ticket image below for all ticket purchase info.
