This right here is a gem of metal music history, loyal Pit disciples. How does YouTube user “supercharger666” have this crazy Sepultura video? Who the hell knows. But horns to them for the upload.
According to their upload, this video captures the band way back in August of 1989 in their practice space in Sao Paulo, Brazil as they write ‘Arise’ and prepare for their first-ever European tour supporting the legendary Sodom.
Crazy seeing the OG lineup so baby-faced and full of energy. An awesome window into the old days before the bitter breakup and decades of “he said” drama that sadly was to come.
“It doesn’t bother me… It is what it is. At the end of the day, the fans know what the band was and what it is now, the difference [between the two]. And I really don’t care. I’m not bitter. They do what they do; I do what I do. It’s been like that for a long time now. But you can’t touch the classics; those records that we did [in the 1980s and 1990s]. It still goes, but it is what it is.
And no, your ears aren’t deceiving you in the video below, that’s definitely a Supernaut jam from Black Sabbath Vol. 4 for the first minute of the video.
Lastly, props to the always rad Out Of Step for constantly curating amazing shit & pointing us on to this gem.
Ok, we’ll shut up now.
