According to a press release, Lizzy spoke to how Back from the Dead came from songwriting exercises and developed into a matter of survival. She shared, “We started writing this album about three months B.C. (Before COVID). Once we went into lockdown and were unable to perform and tour, I fell into a dark place and something of an identity crisis. This album is the story of me carving myself out of that abyss. It is a journey of navigating mental health, debauchery, survival, redemption, rediscovery and still maintaining faith in humanity.”

In other Halestorm related news – today is Halestorm guitarist Joe Hottinger’s birthday! Happy birthday Joe! Lizzy wrote an endearing Instagram post about Joe in celebration of his birthday, which you read below.

Also, we recently spoke to Arejay about his thoughts on Pantera’s “This Love” and what the band means to him.

Lizzy and her brother Arejay formed the band back in 1998; guitarist Joe Hottinger joined the band in 2003, with bassist Josh Smith joining in 2004. Halestorm would end up releasing their self-titled debut album in August of 2009, which has been certified gold. Back from the Dead is the follow up to the band’s 2018 album, Vicious.

Back from the Dead will be released May 6th and you pre-order the album here.
