Cannibal Corpse recently kicked off a tour, and during one of their shows, the crowd started a not so friendly chant in the name of Chris Barnes.
As you may have heard, the ex-Cannibal Corpse vocalist wrote a tweet about how he “despises what this genre has become,” referring to the death metal scene. This was in response to Barnes watching a Knotfest round-table discussion featuring Chase Mason of Gatecreeper, Trevor Strnad of The Black Dahlia Murder, George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher of Cannibal Corpse, and Alex Jones of Undeath (the latter who would go on to call Barnes a “curmudgeon”). Corpsegrinder hasn’t made any direct response to Barnes’ comments, but he has shared that he is “proud of the death metal scene today.”
During the Reading, PA stop on the current Cannibal Corpse tour (which would have been yesterday), during the band’s set, the crowd started shouting the following chant: “Fuck Chris Barnes.”
In response to the crowd, Corpsegrinder looks to them and goes, “You said it, not me.”
What are your thoughts on what Barnes has said?
