Welp, weirder things have happened. But, as reported by Loudwire, during the 2022 Brit Awards – Bring Me The Horizon joined forces with that of popstar Ed Sheeran for a performance. Collaborating together on Sheeran’s hit song “Bad Habits,” Bring Me The Horizon frontman Oli Sykes threw in an added punch to Sheeran’s already vibrant tune.
The performance featuring both BMTH and Sheeran opened the Awards and included an extravagant display of dance, lighting, and theatrics. Whereas Sheeran keeps his cool, Sykes dropped some growls and screams into the performance, with him and Sheeran taking turns vocally throughout the song and singing together during the song’s bridge.
This isn’t the first time Sheeran has been associated with heavy music. The dude is actually a fan of some big name metal bands. In an interview he did with The Sun, Sheeran shares that, “I was really into death metal as a kid. I listened to Cradle of Filth and Slipknot and all that stuff. I’m not saying I could ever step into that world.”
Never say never Ed. I’d love to see the dude give it what he’s got and show us his angle on heavy music. Hell, there’s mention that Sheeran and that of Cradle of Filth’s Dani Filth may collab. Trying to imagine that is real tough – which makes that possible blend of black metal and pop even more intriguing.
I love to see heavy music get more spotlight in the mainstream. The more attention brought to these musicians, the more people who will support them. Whether Bring Me The Horizon or Ed Sheeran is your cup of tea, their performance looks like a whole lot of fun.
