It’s one thing to hear metal in video games, but it’s a whole other thing to hear video games inspire metal, such as how Total War: Warhammer 3 has inspired Battlesnake.
Battlesnake are an Australian metal act who have a great high fantasy vibe to their music. To celebrate the release of Total War: Warhammer 3, Microsoft teamed up with the band to create a music video for the Warhammer song “Death Is Like The Winter Chill.”
As reported by GameSpot, according to Xbox ANZ, members of Battlesnake were already fans of the franchise. Warhammer is one of the most popular miniature wargames in the world and has spawned several video game spin-offs like Total War: Warhammer 3. Regarding this Warhammer collaboration, Battlesnake’s Elliott Hitchcock shared that, “Battlesnake was forged deep in the fiery pits of the underworld, so we share a mutual respect with those who wage battle in the Realm of Chaos.”
He continues, “When we’re not shredding on stage, we’re normally wielding swords, so any game with swords is a game worth celebrating. We’re hyped to pay tribute to the legendary Warhammer community and hope that our celebration brings some new Warhammer metal-heads to our shows in future to watch us get sweaty.”
The video of the band’s performance covering “Death Is Like The Winter Chill,” which you can view below, features them dressed in medieval-like battle gear, their stage performance being cut there and then by footage of the game. This is an awesome team up, for the heavy metal fantasy thrills of Battlesnake work well alongside Warhammer‘s epic, bloody battles.
At the time of this writing, the band only have one EP and a few singles released. That EP is titled Myths and Legends from Gorbag’s Domain. Their latest single is “Motorgut,” which you can hear below. You can also pick up Total War: Warhammer 3 as of now on Steam and Game Pass.
