As an up-and-coming band in the world of heavy music, Spiritbox have already made waves among audiences. Hell, they even got a recent shout out by Korn’s own Brian “Head” Welch as a band he enjoys listening to. Last year the band released their debut studio album Eternal Blue, and now Spiritbox are offering an additional means to experience the record – this time in comic book form.
As reported by Loudwire, Eternal Blue: A Spiritbox Graphic Novel, will build upon the themes of Eternal Blue. Pulling inspiration from the record’s lyrics, the graphic novel will drop readers into a fantastical setting brimming with captivating visuals. The book will be graced by the comic talents of writer Jim Krueger (Earth X, Justice) and artist Amilcar Pinna (Poppy’s Inferno, Generation X). The story is said to revolve around Eva, a “brilliant painter on the verge of unbelievable acclaim and success,” according to a press release.
The premise continues, “But her inability to reconcile her public perception with her true self allows a Spiritbox — a device used to communicate with the dead — to transport her to an ethereal world.”
Regarding the graphic novel, vocalist Courtney LaPlante says, “I am in love with this story and artwork. I cannot wait for you to discover Eva and the world that she has been thrust into. It truly is an extension of my feelings and the state of mind I held while writing our album … and the lyrics that resonate with me still.”
LaPlante continues, “Although we are very different, I can’t help but let a lot of myself seep into Eva’s personality and experiences. I care about her so much. Jim and Amilcar are brilliant and we are so happy to share this with you after keeping it to ourselves for so long.”
Well sign us up! It isn’t everyday you hear that a band is adapting their music into comic form. Eternal Blue: A Spiritbox Graphic Novel will release in June from Z2 Comics. The book is available to purchase in both softcover and hardcover, with additional bundles available that include other extra goodies. You can pre-order the book here.
