In maybe one of the more random (and frankly pretty dumb) arguments in recent times, Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder and Motley Crue’s Nikki Sixx are slinging it out on the ‘ol internet.
The war of digital words seemingly started due to a comment Vedder made in a New York Times interview recently. Responding to the question of “Do you think any ripples from that Gen X, alt-culture explosion extended to the present?”, Vedder replied:
“You know, I used to work in San Diego loading gear at a club. I’d end up being at shows that I wouldn’t have chosen to go to — bands that monopolized late-’80s MTV. The metal bands that — I’m trying to be nice — I despised. “Girls, Girls, Girls” and Mötley Crüe: [expletive] you. I hated it. I hated how it made the fellas look. I hated how it made the women look. It felt so vacuous.”
Nikki Sixx clearly didn’t take too kindly to the comments, as he took to Twitter to say the following:
Made me laugh today reading how much the singer in Pearl Jam hated @MotleyCrue. Now considering that they’re one of the most boring bands in history it’s kind of a compliment isn’t it?#TheStadiumTour #RocknRoll
