Getting a tattoo of a band/artist is a powerful act of fandom; so, when we hear that a band like Slipknot is one of the most represented bands in the world of tattooing, it doesn’t surprise us one bit given how loyal Maggots are.
As reported by Loudwire, thanks to a new study from Lickd, there is data regarding what bands have made the most appearances in tattoo form (with data being pulled from Instagram). So, who are the top three bands to receive the most tattoo love?
The band to receive the most inked representation is that of prog-rockers Pink Floyd, who appear in 27,329 Instagram tattoo posts with the hashtag, #pinkfloydtattoo.

Second place goes to Queen, with a reported 25,236 tattoo posts.

Then as far as more modern bands are concerned, that’s where we see the likes of Slipknot ranking high – the band placing in third with 21,887 tattoo posts on Instagram. Between every individual member’s iconic masks and the band’s trademark “S” symbol, Slipknot have a plethora of tattoo ideas for fans to work with.

The study also reveals other metal and rock acts that have gotten a lot of tattoo representation; Linkin Park have 18,441 posts, Iron Maiden with 16,969, Nirvana with 16,039, and Metallica have 13,945 (just to name a few).
