Metal Blade Records has made an incredible name for itself in the world of heavy metal. This year marks the label’s 40th anniversary, given that Metal Blade was founded by Brian Slagel in 1982. Metal Blade and Slagel have represented a great amount of brilliant bands, including the likes of Cannibal Corpse, Slayer, Amon Amarth, Whitechapel, The Black Dahlia Murder, Between The Buried And Me, and so many more.
One of the first bands that Metal Blade ever helped out though was an act called Metallica, the band taking part in the label’s first release, The New Heavy Metal Revue presents Metal Massacre. This was a compilation that included Metallica, among other bands like Ratt and Malice.
Now, 40 years since that compilation’s release, Metal Blade are proud to announce that Metal Massacre Volume One will be coming out on limited-edition vinyl! This is the first time the compilation will be available since its release in 1982. Metal Massacre Volume One will be available worldwide on April 22nd. It will feature all the songs that were originally featured on its first and second pressing.
The limited-edition Ruby Red vinyl variant will be available to 5000 copies worldwide at Metal Blade Records, and 2,000 copies pressed on clear vinyl exclusively available at metallica.com. The first 250 US pre-orders at Metal Blade Records will receive an exclusive patch: metalblade.com/40thanniversary.
