It looks like that recent performance with Bring Me The Horizon and Ed Sheeran went real well for the two, because now they are making a song together! In a conversation the pop star had with The Daily Star, he talks about the fun he had playing alongside Bring Me The Horizon and how he has been wanting to work with vocalist Oli Sykes.
In case you didn’t know: Ed Sheeran and Bring Me The Horizon performed together for the 2022 Brit Awards. Jamming along to Sheeran’s hit song “Bad Habits,” the track found a new invigoration thanks to Sykes’ delivery of screaming vocals and the band’s rockin’ instrumentation. You can find the video of that performance below:
In the interview, Sheeran says, “We’re going to write a song together…playing with Bring Me the Horizon was a dream.” He continues, “I got in touch with (singer) Ollie and we were going to write together but then the pandemic happened, so we’re in touch – I’ve been a fan for a long time.” Sheeran also mentions how heavy music is what he grew up listening too and that had a subscription to Kerrang!.
Between Bring Me The Horizon and a possible collab with Cradle of Filth’s Dani Filth, Ed Sheeran may be the new face of metal! Imagine a world where we get the likes of Slipknot or Whitechapel touring alongside Ed Sheeran – we’re sure that’ll go really well.
In all seriousness though – hell yeah! We are excited to hear whatever Sheeran and the band create. Not every metalhead is dressed in black from head to toe or wearing battle armor – some are pop stars. Hell, Kate Beckinsale was just recently chilling out to Texas hardcore act Kublai Khan. Metal is for everyone and it’s awesome to see its audience – and artistic contributors – grow.
