As you may have heard, a few days ago, Dee Snider took to his Twitter account to say he approves of the Ukrainian people using the Twisted Sister hit song “We’re Not Gonna Take It” as a “battlecry.” But since providing that approval, Snider has been confronted by other Twitter users who are asking why he hasn’t provided his approval of the song’s use for another cause.
Initially, Dee Snider reached out and said the following on Twitter:
“I absolutely approve of Ukrainians using ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’ as their battlecry. My grandfather was Ukrainian, before it was swallowed up by the USSR after WW2. This can’t happen to these people again! #FUCKRUSSIA”
When a Twitter user said that Russia wasn’t to blame, but Russian president Vladimir Putin, Dee Snider replied with the following tweet:
“Understood (though they are claiming 60% of Russians support this invasion). But the Russian people (many who are already protesting) need to take responsibility for the piece of shit they have allowed to stay in powre for 22 years. #FUCKPUTIN”.

Now though, it seems some followers are wondering why he hasn’t provided an approval for the song to be used for another cause – specifically those pushing against mask mandates. In a recent tweet of Snider’s (posted yesterday), the rocker said the following:
“People are asking me why I endorsed the use of ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’ for the Ukrainian people and did not for the anti-maskers. Well, one use is for a righteous battle against oppression; the other is a infantile feet stomping against an inconvenience.”
